The process of jacking up a structure to relevel the floor can offer a cost-effective solution for addressing subsidence issues, particularly in cases where the foundation has failed but the ground floor structure remains intact.
Before proceeding with this method, thorough assessment of the existing structure, ground conditions, and site conditions is essential.
Once determined as a viable option and designs finalised, piles are strategically placed and jacking heads installed atop them. The jacks are then gradually elevated, monitored closely with laser equipment to ensure precise levelling.
After achieving the desired level, the piles are permanently concreted in place, and the surrounding area is restored. This technique, successfully employed by STRESS across various structures in the UK, can lift structures by as much as 50mm and has been adapted for use on both single-storey and, in some cases, two-storey buildings.
