Graveney School

Client: Graveney Trust

Project location: London, SW17

Contract value: £200,000

This school had started to notice very wide cracks opening up showing both vertical and horizontal displacement. The crack pattern, very approximately originated from the point where the projection joined the facing wall of the front façade.

The main body of the building had cracking in the arches of the crosswalls at ground floor and first floor. The cause of the damage was due to settlement at the outboard end of the projection.

STRESS proposed underpinning to re-establish the necessary support to the structure, installing new tie bars and sock anchors, installing a limited amount of bed joint reinforcement and jacking the rotated component back into position.
